Lower Floors Back in Service by 6:30 p.m., Full Restoration Expected by 7 a.m. Wednesday
SEATTLE - Seattle City Light repair crews are working to restore service to two buildings downtown that lost power about 2:50 a.m. when a water leak at one of the buildings flooded an electrical vault.
The buildings affected by the outage are the Union Bank of California and a condominium project under construction at Fifth and Madison. City Light crews isolated one of the three feeder lines that provide power to the buildings and rerouted power to restore service for floor 11 down to the lower levels of the bank.
That step provided power to the bank building’s sump pumps, which should help to clear water from the flooded vault, allowing crews to restore service to the rest of the building. Full service restoration is expected by 7 a.m. Wednesday.
