Seattle City Light has Additional Crews Working to Restore Power
SEATTLE - A storm carrying winds in excess of 40 mph blew into the Puget Sound area Saturday afternoon, toppling trees and causing power outages for thousands of Seattle City Light customers.
Nearly 8,500 customers were without power about 2:30 p.m. across the Seattle City Light service territory. City Light called in additional crews in advance of the storm in expectation of the outages. Those crews were working to restore power as quickly as possible.
A South Seattle outage was generally bounded by S. 99th Street on the north, SW 176th Street on the south, Military Road on the east and 32nd Avenue SW on the west. About 2,800 customers were affected. Restoration of service was estimated to take until 6 p.m.
An outage in northeast Seattle was generally bounded by NE 75th Street on the north, NE 55th Street on the south, 45th Ave. NE on the east and 8th Avenue NE on the west. About 2,575 customers were affected by that outage. No estimate for restoration of service was immediately available.
A Lake Forest Park outage was generally bounded by NE 198th Street on the North, NE 148th Street on the south, Lake Washington on the on the east and 25th Avenue NE on the west. About 2,900 customers were affected by that outage. No estimate for restoration of service was immediately available.
