Seattle City Light replacing 2.8 miles of lines to up-grade equipment
SEATTLE- Seattle City Light is about to begin a seven-week project to replace two major transmission lines along 2.8 miles of 8th Ave. N.E. in north Seattle. The project will result in some disruption of traffic and parking in the area, but should not involve any interruption of electrical power.
City Light will be replacing two high-voltage (115 kV) electrical feeder lines along 8th Ave. N.E., between N.E. 77th St. and N.E. 130th St. The work is scheduled for weekdays from June 30th through August 15th. While City Light does not anticipate interruptions to electrical power, the project will require a number of trucks and pieces of equipment on site to complete this work.
City Light Customer Service & Energy Delivery Officer Chris Heimgartner describes this project as "crucial to meeting the increasing demand for reliable, uninterrupted power to our customers." He also said City Light crews will be working to complete this project as soon as possible and apologized for the expected inconvenience to local residents.
Questions, complaints or concerns about the work can be directed to Mike Eagan, City Light Communications & Public Affairs, at (206) 615-1691 or by email to mike.eagan@seattle.gov
