SEATTLE - Extension Allows Man Living Under Bridge to Make Arrangements
The City of Seattle has posted a 10-day extension on removal of the tree house located in the Eastlake neighborhood under the University Bridge. The extension will allow David Csaky, who is living in the structure, to make other housing arrangements.
"Since January, a number of city agencies have been coordinating efforts to assist Mr. Csaky with his situation," says Suzanne Hartman, director of Communications & Public Affairs at Seattle City Light. "We know of at least two shelters that have space available today for Mr. Csaky, as well as options that are available for the care of his pet rat and ferret on an interim basis. We also encourage any community resources that might be available to come forward."
The tree house structure will be removed at the end of the 10-day period for health and safety reasons.
The City of Seattle supports the 10-year plan to end homelessness in our community and has committed $40 million annually to prevent and end homelessness.
