Power Restored In Beacon Hill, Columbia City
Backup Generators Kept Veteran’s Hospital Operating
SEATTLE - A vehicle that snagged a guy wire was the cause of a power outage that affected about 3,800 customers in the Beacon Hill and Columbia City neighborhoods for two hours Tuesday.
When the vehicle caught hold of the guy wire about 8:10 a.m., it slapped two power lines together, knocking out a feeder line that provided electricity to the area. Seattle City Light crews were able to identify the problem and restore service to all customers about 10:10 a.m.
The line that was knocked out of service is one of two that provides electricity to Veteran’s Hospital. The hospital used backup generators to make up for the loss of power during the outage.
The general boundaries of the outage were Horton Street on the north, Warsaw Street on the South, 42nd Avenue on the East, and 12th Avenue on the West.
