Seattle City Light Announces the Addition Of Two New Executives
Nevada Conservation Executive and Utility Engineering Director Join City Light Team

SEATTLE - Wayman Robinett, Power Supply and Environmental Affairs Officer at Seattle City Light today announced the appointment of Robert Balzar as Conservation Resources Director. Balzar has more than 30 years experience in engineering, marketing and utility management.

What Bob brings to City Light is a fresh look at our energy conservation efforts to gain even greater energy savings, says Robinett. Thats no small task, since Seattle City Light has been the utility standard that utilities throughout the Northwest cite as one of the most progressive in the region.

Most recently Balzar was Director of Marketing and Product Development for a home builder in Las Vegas, Nevada. Prior to that, he spent 21 years at Sierra Pacific Power Company and Nevada Power Company, the two utility divisions of Sierra Pacific Resources in Nevada, working in a variety of engineering and leadership positions. In his last position with the utility, he spent five years leading the team that developed and grew the Energy Efficiency and Conservation department. Emerging out of the western energy crisis of 2001, the new department operated several conservation programs, saving 200 Mw of power. Today, the conservation initiatives started under Balzar are core to the utilitys energy resource plans.

Balzar has been a member of the State of Nevada Task Force on Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation as well as a Board Member of the Southwest Energy Efficiency Program of Boulder, Colorado, a six-state regional conservation advocacy organization promoting conservation legislation and conservation program expansion in the southwest.

"Seattles success in energy savings is legendary, commented Balzar. Im excited to be leading a team of seasoned professionals with a depth of knowledge, experience and success. Conservation is central to City Lights energy resource plans for the future, said Balzar.

Mr. Balzar is married, has three grown children and three grandchildren. Balzar has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nevada Reno

And Chris Heimgartner, Customer Service and Energy Delivery Officer, announces the addition of Richard Kent as Electric Engineering Division Director. His appointment comes after an intensive national search. We were looking for an individual with a depth of knowledge and experience in the electric utility business - someone who could hit the ground running and Rich is that person, said Heimgartner. In particular, his background on national electric utility policy working with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is an asset for us.

Kent most recently was the Energy Policy Lead at the Idaho National Lab in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Prior to that, he was Deputy Director of the Ocala Electric Utility. He has a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech and has completed the Public Utility Executive Program from the University of Michigan. He holds professional engineering registrations in six states. He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a Certified Public Manager (CPM). He was on the board of the Florida Reliability Coordinating Council and has been active in several community programs including the Small Business Council and United Way.

Kent and his wife live in Seattles Queen Anne neighborhood.
