City Light Crews Aid Injured Motorists
Seattle City Light customers are getting used to the 24/7 presence of crews fixing wind storm damage, but today three crew members found themselves turning electrical restoration to human beings needing assistance.
About 9 a.m. this morning, three Seattle City Light crew members were traveling north on Aurora Avenue. Ahead of them, traveling independently, was a Seattle Public Utility (SPU) water truck with two employees. The SPU crew witnessed the car in front of them swerve and hit a tree. They immediately pulled over, soon followed by the City Light crew.
They had to pry a car door loose to get to the three young, injured occupants. While rendering aid, the City workers also directed traffic around the accident scene and called for aid cars. According to a City Light supervisor, these individuals handled the accident with skill and professionalism in spite of witnessing a terrible scene.
I am constantly impressed by the professionalism and commitment of our employees, said City Light Superintendent Jorge Carrasco, and this incident just reaffirms their exemplary behavior even in light of the extraordinary work they are doing to restore power to our customers.
