PacifiCorp Releases 12 Crews to City Light
Additional crews begin arriving this afternoon to aid restoration work
Seattle – Additional crews begin arriving today to aid City Light in its customer restoration efforts. Twelve crews – an additional 56 people – will begin arriving this afternoon from PacifiCorp’s locations in Yakima, Portland and other locations from throughout the Northwest.
“PacifiCorp responded to our earlier request for line crews just as soon as they could,” says Jorge Carrasco, superintendent of Seattle City Light. “PacifiCorp customers were without power too and restoration work continues, but they are able to release some crews. They’re now in a better position to help us out and we are grateful as we continue to work on restoring power to City Light Customers.”
It’s anticipated that some of the PacifiCorp crew will be on the job as soon as this evening, working under supervision of City Light. The remainder of the outside crews will be on the job in the morning.
Carrasco earlier today discussed the severity of the damage in many Seattle neighborhoods due to the Thursday night storm. Damage was particularly bad in neighborhoods to the south of downtown, such as Burien, Tukwila, White Center, West Seattle and Normandy Park. “It’s simply taking our crews longer than expected,” adds Carrasco. “Once we got out into the neighborhoods, we could see the devastation. Our customers have been great and we appreciate that. We ask for their continued patience and want them to know that we are doing everything we can to get their power restored.”
The addition of these crews comes at a critical time in the restoration efforts because of the widespread locations of downed trees and lines.
