Electric Resources Executive from Silicon Valley Joins City Light Team
Risk management expert to come on board as Power Management Executive
SEATTLE— Jorge Carrasco, superintendent of Seattle City Light, announces the hiring of Ray Camacho as City Light’s new Power Management Executive. Camacho joins City Light on January 2, 2007.
“Ray Camacho played a major role in Silicon Valley Power’s (SVP) successful negotiations during the West Coast energy crisis of 2000-2001, preserving SVP’s credit rating,” states Carrasco. Camacho has been responsible for managing SVP’s 800 MW portfolio of diverse generating resources and long-term power contracts, including the restructuring and renegotiation of long-term power contracts that reduced purchased power costs by 37% in 1999. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the City Light team and will be a great asset for City Light customers,” added Carrasco.
Camacho started in the electrical utility industry in 1977 as an electrical engineer with San Diego Gas and Electric Company. He also spent several years with Pacific Gas & Electric Company as a power contract negotiator. He has been with Silicon Valley Power since 1995 and most recently as Assistant Director of Electric Resources Management. Camacho has served as a member of the Risk Management Committee of the City of Santa Clara, California and was principal negotiator for SVP with a variety of federal, regional and state regulatory agencies.
Camacho has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri.
