Powerline contact injures construction workers
SEATTLE - Two construction workers were injured this afternoon when their equipment came into contact with a power line. According to the Seattle Fire Department the two workers were on the fifth floor of a building under construction at 500 Mercer Street. The long-handled tool they were using came into contact with an electrified 115kV sub-transmission line.
Lights and computers of City Light customers in some areas of downtown and the northwest part of the city flickered momentarily as the contact was made. This occurred as the circuit breaker tripped to correct the fault. There was no lasting outage as a result of the incident. City Light crews remain on the scene this afternoon to ascertain if any repairs are necessary prior to bringing the line back into service.
