Seattle City Light wins "Outstanding Partnership Award" from Skagit Land Trust
Seattle City Light has received the "Outstanding Partnership Award" from the Skagit Land Trust (SLT). The mission of the SLT is to protect wildlife habitat, agricultural and forest lands, scenic open space, wetlands, and shorelines throughout the mainland and islands of Skagit County for the benefit of the community and as a legacy for future generations.
This award recognizes City Light's commitment to the Skagit River Watershed and its community. This stewardship was demonstrated when City Light purchased the Iron Mountain Ranch land and worked with the Skagit Land Trust to permanently protect this land through a conservation easement. That's important because the area includes key salmon habitat such as spawning areas for Chinook, chum, and pink salmon and steelhead trout. The Skagit Land Trust is a private nonprofit organization.
