Seattle City Light Celebrates 100 years of Lighting Seattle
WHEN: Tuesday, October 25, 2005, 11 am
WHERE: Seattle City Hall - 600 4th Avenue
Seattle City Light celebrates 100 years of providing affordable, reliable, publicly owned power to the citizens of Seattle.
11:45 a.m. - Lighting ceremony with Mayor Greg Nickels, City Light Superintendent Jorge Carrasco, & City Council member Jean Godden, Chair of Energy and Environment Committee.
See vintage lighting come to life along with historic appliances, photos and displays depicting City Light’s colorful century of serving the citizens of Seattle with clean, affordable electricity.
12:30 p.m. - Panel discussion - with historians Wesley Arden Dick and David Wilma and Robin Calhoun, City Light’s first conservation manager. They will share City Light stories, and touch on topics including power then and now, public vs. private, global warming, competition, and conservation.
This event will be attended by City Light employees, retirees, and invited guests. Refreshments will be served.
