SEATTLE- Seattle City Light customers have until the end of the year to take advantage of special financial incentives on energy-efficiency improvements.
Businesses and multifamily housing are the primary targets of the incentive programs.
"Businesses shied away from conservation investments while the economy was sluggish," said City Light Energy Management Services Director Marya Castillano. "But the economy seems to be improving, so we want to offer our customers the opportunity to improve the energy efficiency of their businesses through our added incentives."
Through City Light's Energy Smart Services Program, medium and large commercial and industrial customers are eligible for a 10 percent "signing bonus" on top of City Light's normal conservation funding if they contract with City Light before Dec. 15, 2004. Any projects that are complete, inspected and approved by City Light by July 15, 2005, would receive another 10 percent bonus - a total of 20 percent above regular conservation incentives.
Eligible projects could include upgrades in lighting, heating/ventilation/air-conditioning systems, building controls, industrial processes and more. Customers can learn more on-line at EnergySmartServices.com or by calling (206) 684-3254.
Small businesses are also eligible for a 20 percent bonus - for lighting upgrades only - if they sign a simplified agreement with City Light by Dec. 31, 2004.
For multifamily buildings, City Light is boosting the incentives for window replacement and common-area lighting improvements. The utility is also offering a 20 percent bonus for energy-efficiency measures in new multifamily construction. Customers must sign up for these incentives by Dec. 31, 2004.
More information on small business and multifamily incentives is available on-line at www.seattle.gov/light/conserve or by calling (206) 684-3800.
