Outage Resolved in Less than Two Hours
SEATTLE – Seattle City Light crews restored power to all 28,000 customers affected by a power outage in South Seattle by about 3 p.m.
The outage started about 1:20 p.m. when a power line touched a relay at the utility's South Substation at 3839 4th Ave. S. during maintenance work.
The general boundaries of the outage stretched from E Jefferson Street on the north to E Marginal Way on the south and from W Marginal Way on the west to Lake Washington on the east.
Seattle City Light is the 10th largest public electric utility in the United States. It has some of the lowest cost customer rates of any urban utility, providing reliable, renewable and environmentally responsible power to nearly 1 million Seattle area residents. City Light has been greenhouse gas neutral since 2005, the first electric utility in the nation to achieve that distinction.
