Fallen Trees Responsible for Outages Affecting 5,700 Homes, Businesses
SEATTLE – Trees that fell into power lines were responsible for two outages in Burien late Tuesday night.
The large trees knocked down power lines and damaged equipment. Seattle City Light crews restored service to all customers by 6:25 a.m. Wednesday.
Both outages started about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. The first tree fell near the intersection of 10th Avenue S and S 117th Street. Service was restored to the 3,700 affected customers by 4:30 a.m. The second tree fell near the intersection of SW 156th Street and 22nd Avenue SW. Service was restored to the 2,000 affected customers by 6:25 a.m.
Seattle City Light is the 10th largest public electric utility in the United States. It has some of the lowest cost customer rates of any urban utility, providing reliable, renewable and environmentally responsible power to nearly 1 million Seattle area residents.
