Fallen Tree Responsible for Outage
SEATTLE – Seattle City Light crews restored power to about 3,900 homes and businesses in the Rainier Valley about 11:30 a.m. Saturday after a falling tree hit power lines and knocked out their electricity service.
The outage started about 10:40 a.m. The general boundaries were Rainier Avenue S on the north, Renton Avenue S on the south, 55th Avenue S on the west and Lake Washington on the east.
Seattle City Light is the 10th largest public electric utility in the United States. It has some of the lowest cost customer rates of any urban utility, providing reliable, renewable and environmentally responsible power to nearly 1 million Seattle area residents. City Light has been greenhouse gas neutral since 2005, the first electric utility in the nation to achieve that distinction.
