SEATTLE – Seattle City Light restored service to about 2,400 homes and businesses in the Skyway area at about 10:30 p.m.
The outage started about 5:30 p.m. when overhead equipment failed, causing the wires to come down to the ground. City Light crews first made the area safe and then restored power.
The general boundaries of the outage were: Renton Ave. S. to the north, S.W. 3rd Place to the south, 56th Place South to the west and Rainier Ave. North to the east. Not all customers in this area were affected.
Seattle City Light is the 10th largest public electric utility in the United States. It has some of the lowest cost customer rates of any urban utility, providing reliable, renewable and environmentally responsible power to nearly 1 million Seattle area residents. City Light has been greenhouse gas neutral since 2005, the first electric utility in the nation to achieve that distinction.
