SEATTLE — City Light crews have been able to restore power to 95 percent of the customers on Queen Anne Hill outage and all of the customers on south Beacon Hill. System wide there are 400 customers still without power. These are scattered in smaller pockets along laterals and individual service connections. Crews will continue work to get everyone restored.
Last night’s wind storm did damage to equipment in several areas within Seattle City Light‘s service territory. At 5 a.m. this morning over 12 thousand customers lost power. Trees came down in several locations including Queen Anne neighborhood and also down in south Beacon Hill.
City Light crews are also making repairs to a transmission line that brings power into Seattle from the Cedar Falls powerhouse in eastern King County. Although this is a critical repair, it is not affecting any City Light customers.
Seattle City Light is the tenth largest public electric utility in the United States. It has some of the lowest cost customer rates of any urban utility, providing reliable, renewable and environmentall.y responsible power to nearly 1 million Seattle area residents. City Light has been greenhouse gas neutral since 2005, the first electric utility in the nation to achieve that distinction.
