Utility Can Better Coordinate Response, Share Information with Customers
SEATTLE — As the Pacific Northwest heads into storm season, Seattle City Light has enhanced its ability to coordinate responses to outages and share information about that work with its customers thanks to a new outage management system and outage tracker map.
The Oracle-based software allows utility dispatchers, call center representatives and others responding to outages to share information in real time, including the cause of an outage and estimates for restoration of service.
Journalists are invited to a behind-the-scenes look at how the system operates on Thursday, Nov. 4, at 10 a.m. in the Seattle Municipal Tower at 700 Fifth Ave., Seattle. Please check in at the reception desk on the 32nd floor to be escorted to the demonstration.
City Light will demonstrate how the system works, including calls from customers, providing estimates for restoration, and showing how key outage information is now available to customers 24 hours a day on our website at http://seattle.gov/light/sysstat//.
