Voting Open Until Oct. 24 for City Light Video Contest

SEATTLE — Ghosts and goblins will soon be prowling the streets for tricks or treats, but what really scares us are energy vampires, the devices that suck electricity from the socket even when they’re turned off.

We asked our customers to help by sending us videos of the energy vampires in their homes and how they are slaying them. The response was impressive and creative. The entries to our Slay an Energy Vampire video contest, including talking dogs, vampire classics and new age bloodsuckers can be seen at http://energyvampires.strutta.com/.

Voting is open until Oct. 24. A panel of judges will then select the top three prize winners.

First place wins a home energy audit, a vampire slayer kit of energy-saving devices, a Flip Ultra video camera and an iPod shuffle.

Second and third place win a vampire slayer kit, a Flip Ultra and an iPod shuffle.

All entrants receive a compact fluorescent light bulb.

Seattle City Light is the 10th largest public electric utility in the United States. It has some of the lowest cost customer rates of any urban utility, providing reliable, renewable and environmentally responsible power to nearly 1 million Seattle area residents. City Light has been greenhouse gas neutral since 2005, the first electric utility in the nation to achieve that distinction.
