Transformer Failure Suspected as Cause of Outage
SEATTLE — Seattle City Light repair crews responded to an outage affecting about 3,200 homes and businesses in the Pinehurst and Cedar Park neighborhoods of northeast Seattle about noon today.
A transformer failure was suspected as the possible cause for the outage. An estimate for restoration of service was not immediately available while crews investigated the damage.
The general boundaries of the outage were N 145th Street on the north, N 104th Street on the south, 35th Avenue NE on the east and Linden Avenue N on the west. Not all homes and businesses in that area were affected.
Seattle City Light is the ninth largest public electric utility in the United States. It has some of the lowest cost customer rates of any urban utility, providing reliable, renewable and environmentally responsible power to nearly 1 million Seattle area residents. City Light has been greenhouse gas neutral since 2005, the first electric utility in the nation to achieve that distinction.
