SEATTLE Seattle City Light Superintendent Jorge Carrasco announced that DaVonna Johnson has accepted the position of human resources officer for the utility.

I am delighted to have DaVonna on our Executive Team, Superintendent Jorge Carrasco said. She brings sound business practices and a keen understanding of employee relations to our team. In these tough and uncertain economic times, a steady hand at helm for employees is critical. Davonna has demonstrated her hard work to support City Light's employees and their human resource needs.

Johnson has been serving as City Lights interim human resources officer since October 2008. During that time, City Light successfully completed the negotiation of five labor agreements; streamlined and improved its hiring practices, developed a comprehensive training plan; and initiated a utility-wide succession planning effort.

Johnson previously served as City Light's Talent Acquisition Manager. In that role, she dramatically reduced the number of days to fill a vacant position from more than 100 days to about 55. The utility saw many other improvements in its recruitment and retention efforts as well.

Johnson joined City Light in 2004, working in the Superintendent's Office before moving on to work in Human Resources. She has an MBA from Washington State University.

Seattle City Light is the ninth largest public electric utility in the United States. It has the lowest cost customer rates of any urban utility, providing reliable, renewable and environmentally responsible power to nearly 1 million Seattle area residents. City Light has been greenhouse gas neutral since 2005, the first electric utility in the nation to achieve that distinction.
