Renewable Energy Demonstration Projects Map
Seattle City Light has partnered with local public and nonprofit organizations to host renewable energy demonstration projects to raise awareness and educate the public about different sources of clean electricity and ways to conserve energy.
The first project was a solar energy system at Seattle Center's Northwest Rooms in 2000 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Earth Day. From 2002 - 2010, most local demonstration projects were funded by customer contributions to City Light's voluntary green programs. Solar hot water and geothermal installations at the Seattle Aquarium and Woodland Park Zoo, respectively, have helped those nonprofits save thousands of dollars in energy bills as well as conserve our existing energy resources.
Our demonstration projects have provided renewable energy education and training opportunities for teachers, students, and the general public. Seattle City Light has also learned a lot from this experience.

Thank you to our host sites, partners, and the thousands of City Light customers who participate in our green programs!
