Seattle City Light Construction Guidelines
These guidelines are prepared for the sole purpose of aiding design engineers and electrical field crews in designing and constructing, as far as practical, a uniform electrical transmission and distribution system in the City of Seattle, City Light Department’s electrical service area. City Light design engineers and construction crews are not bound by these guidelines and may make such changes in the design and construction of facilities as may be necessary, practical, and as dictated by conditions in the field. The sole limitation on deviating from these guidelines is that the changes to the transmission and distribution circuitry be electrically equivalent and meet applicable local and State codes. These guidelines are not regulations, policy, or mandatory construction standards. Although some national and State electrical and mechanical standards/codes are referenced or cited in these guidelines, those references or citations are not intended to make the codes or standards a mandatory part of these guidelines. If the word "standard" is used in the text of these guidelines, that word is intended to be synonymous with the word "guideline" unless specifically designated otherwise.
