Conservation: Multifamily Weatherization and Lighting Rebates

Seattle City Light offers rebates for windows, insulation and lighting to help make your 5+ unit property more energy efficient. City Light Program Coordinators will assist you with all aspects of the program. You can use any qualified installer to do the work, or choose from a list of contractors who have worked with City Light before.

Windows & Insulation -- If your building has old aluminum-framed double pane or any type of single pane windows, state-of-the-art, high performance windows can significantly increase tenant comfort as well as increase the value of your building. Efficient windows will also reduce noise levels and can make your building look better. We require a minimum window efficiency of U .30, which is greater than Seattle's current energy code so you are assured of the maximum efficiency.

Lighting -- There are now many styles, models and types of aesthetically pleasing efficient lighting fixtures to choose from. Whether you need to completely replace a fixture (including exit signs), install LED fixtures, or simply upgrade from T–12 fluorescent tubes to T–8, we can help you get started.

Rebate Amounts

Single or Double–pane Windows;
  • $5 per square–foot discount when replacing single–pane windows with double–pane.
  • $3 per square–foot discount when replacing aluminum framed double–pane windows with new vinyl framed double–pane windows.

Common Area and In–unit Lighting:
  • Up to an 85% discount when upgrading inefficient common area lighting to energy efficient lighting and fixed rebate amounts for in-unit lighting.
  • Rebates have a cap and are based on a cost control.
To Qualify
  • Building must be an apartment building, condominium, retirement community, or cooperative with 5+ units located in the Seattle City Light service area. Condominiums and cooperatives must have permission of the entire Association before a building survey is scheduled.
  • For windows and insulation rebates: In addition to above, building must also have permanently installed electric space heat as its primary heat source.
NOTE: Incentives will not be paid for any work done prior to bid approval. If you have bids but have not yet started work, please contact us immediately so we can determine your eligibility.
