During the energy crunch, Wright Runstad & Company has redoubled its already substantial efforts to conserve energy in the properties it manages in the Seattle area.
  • Wright Runstad has been improving energy efficiency in its buildings since 1994 through significant upgrades to lighting and HVAC systems.
  • During the current energy crisis, Wright Runstad launched "Turn it Off -- Save Some Juice" campaigns at several of its properties: Washington Mutual Tower, Amazon.com Building, King Street Center, Second & Seneca Building and the Nordstrom Medical Tower. Tenants were greeted with boxes of juice and reminders to turn off lights, computers, monitors and printers at night or when not in use.
  • The company developed a series of posters for posting in lobby and elevator areas as reminders to conserve energy at work.
  • Wright Runstad has reduced lighting wattage throughout the Washington Mutual Tower, including lobby areas. The company is in the process of installing a new lighting panel for the main lobby, with dimming controls that save energy on bright days and reduce the number of lights on at night.
  • Security staff turns office lights off Friday nights so they don't remain on unnecessarily all weekend.
  • Wright Runstad has asked tenants to take responsibility for energy conservation by: turning out private office lights when leaving for lunches, meetings or at the end of the day; turning off computer monitors at the end of the day or when gone for extended time periods; developing procedures for ensuring that lights, appliances and equipment are turned off at the end of each day.
