Accomplishments in U. District
  • 150 volunteers distributed 6,000 compact fluorescent bulbs to U. District residents. This provided energy savings for residents and Seattle City Light.
  • Over 140 businesses participated in the Smart Business Program which offered incentives to upgrade their existing lighting to energy efficient fixtures.
  • The project distributed over 200 water efficient showerheads and faucet aerators.
  • U. District residents reduced their consumption by over 1.5 million kWh, enough to power 178 homes for a year.

Interdepartmental Collaborations
  • Seattle City Light, the Seattle Police Department's Crime Prevention Unit and U. District Block Watch Captains participated in Night Out Against Crime in August of 2005 and handed out over 3,000 compact fluorescent bulbs.
  • The commitment and dedication to volunteerism and conservation by citizens of U. District has been outstanding. It is reflected in the conservation efforts, achieving kilowatt-hour savings that greatly exceeded our expectations.
