NEIGHBORHOODS MULTIFAMILY PROGRAM


BACKGROUND AND CONTACT INFORMATION

The Seattle City Light (SCL) Powerful Neighborhoods program is now serving multifamily properties! Properties with 5 or more units will get FREE energy-efficient compact fluorescent (CFL) lighting, directly installed in all units, plus receive free water saving showerheads and faucet aerators for installation. To participate, please send an e-mail to SCL_install@seattle.gov or call 877-311-8752.

GENERAL FAQS FOR PARTICIPANTS

What will the program do for my property?
A representative working on behalf of SCL will visit your property for a brief qualification audit. Once your property is approved to participate in the program, you can schedule a date for the installation. Program representatives will arrive at your property on the scheduled day and will install CFLs in tenant units. The CFLs are ENERGY STARŪ qualified and free of charge. Installers will also leave behind water saving showerheads and faucet aerators for the property manager or resident to install.

How do I know if my property is eligible?
Properties that are customers of Seattle City Light that have 5 or more units are eligible to participate in the program.

What steps do I take to participate?
Property managers must:
  1. Request a property qualification and opportunity audit by contacting SCL_install@seattle.gov, submitting an online form, or calling 877-311-8752.
  2. Schedule the installation.
  3. Post Notice of Entry forms on tenants' doors 48 hours prior to the scheduled installation.
  4. On the day of the installation, allow the program representative to have access to property units. The installers will identify themselves as SCL representatives upon arrival. The representative will have a City-issued identification card with their name and photograph.
  5. After the installation, fill out a program satisfaction survey, and mail, fax or email the survey to the program.
Is a property audit required?
Yes. Properties must participate in a brief audit in order to schedule the installation. The audit will take approximately one hour and will look for additional opportunities for saving energy.
