High School Internships

Let's be honest, we like to invest in our interns. We want you, as one of our high school interns, to put your flourishing skills into practice through an applied, academic-based and compensated work experience. Our goal is to create a rewarding internship that makes you want to work with us again.

Here's some of what we offer our high school interns:
  • Eight-week paid internship experience (early July - late August)
  • New Intern Orientation
  • Assignment of a mentor
  • Tailored training for building professional workplace skills
  • Workshops on resume-building and using LinkedIn
  • Q&A sessions with City Light Executives
  • Networking with other high school and college interns
  • Adventures to City Light locations that boast hydropower dams, emerald lakes, metal shops, a meter museum, an old timey locomotive, big yellow trucks and a control room to make NASA jealous
  • Ceremony showcasing intern accomplishments and learning outcomes

To be eligible to apply, you must meet the following criteria:
  • Current high school student
  • Possess a minimum 2.00 GPA
  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Have U.S. citizenship or a U.S. legal work permit
  • Preference given to current residents within the Seattle City Light service area
Our high school internships are posted in early April.
