Shoreline Rate Adjustment
Effective March 1, 2009
The City of Shoreline, in a letter to Superintendent Jorge Carrasco dated March 30, 2007, notified City Light of its intent to collect a contract payment from City Light on the revenues derived from the distribution portion of Shoreline customer rates, as provided in the franchise agreement, paragraphs 4.1.1 and 4.1.4. The first contract payment was 3% on said revenues. The 3% contract payment was rolled into Shoreline customers’ energy (kWh) rates and was implemented on June 1, 2008.
The terms of that agreement allow the City of Shoreline to require that Seattle City Light pay the City of Shoreline a contract payment of up to 6% on both the power portion and the distribution portion of Shoreline customer rate revenue. The City of Shoreline has exercised the requirement to collect the full 6% on the distribution portion. Ordinance 122910 passed by the City Council on February 9, 2009, increases the contract payment from 3% on the distribution portion of Shoreline customer rate revenue to 6%, per City of Shoreline request dated March 30, 2007. The overall increase in the average rate is 1.3%. All other charges and discounts in the rate schedules have not been changed.
