Work planned on: West Capitol Hill Service Requests

City Light has twenty-five service connection projects happening in the Capitol Hill area. We want the surrounding community to know about them and we want to listen to any concerns.

The projects include new service connection requests inside and outside an area designated for undergrounding (see map). A service connection is a request for electricity at a new development. There are other utilities working in the same area. So the area is very active.

City Light is working efficiently. Service connection work is, where possible, being coupled with undergrounding to reduce the disruption to parking and business. We relate to developers and other utilities in planning our work.

Unfortunately, we are not able to give a lot of specifics on impacts and timeline for each project. This is due to juggling customer interests, construction timelines, and crew availability.

What we do know is this:

  • Notice for any outages will be given in advance.
  • Well communicate project details as they are known either through a letter, flyer, or face-to-face.
  • A City Light representative, Roy Carbonell, will be a personal point of contact for the projects. See contact information above.
  • Additional contact information includes: Wayne Gallup, Seattle Department of Transportation Street Use, at 206-681-6099, or SDOTConstructionHub@seattle.gov and James Kelly, Office of Economic Development Business Liaison, at 206-684-8612 or james.kelly2@seattle.gov or visit: http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/hub.htm

June 3, 2014 Update: City Light has completed the first round of work for the 301 E. Pike St. condo/retail service request. Two sets of conduits (duct banks) were installed roughly mid-block on Melrose Avenue. The street has been temporarily restored. Seattle Department of Transportation will be coming to make permanent restorations.

At a future point in time, City Light will return to complete its construction for this service request. Any significant impacts to customers will be communicated closer to that time.

Thank you for your patience.
