Seattle City Light will be replacing aging utility poles in portions of Shoreline beginning in June. The work is necessary maintenance and will improve electrical reliability in your area.
City Light’s contractor, Potelco, will be replacing a total of one hundred poles in Shoreline. Besides installing the new poles, crews will relocate the old pole’s electrical wires to the new poles and replace some of our aging equipment.
What You Can Expect
- Daily work hours are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.
- The transition to the new equipment may result in as many as two power outages for up to five hours long.
- If an outage is planned, we will leave a door hanger a minimum of forty-eight hours in advance, specifying the date and duration of the outage.
Once the electrical equipment is relocated to the new poles and City Light’s entire project is complete, it could be a few months before the other companies with utilities on the poles transfer their equipment and the old pole is removed. We will monitor the situation to ensure the old poles are removed in as timely a manner as possible.
8/12/2013 Update: Installation of all poles and the transfer of all equipment is complete.
