Seattle City Light will be replacing aging utility poles in portions of Lake Forest Park beginning in February. The work is necessary maintenance and will improve electrical reliability in your area.
City Light’s contractor, Potelco, will be replacing a total of fifty-nine poles within the six grids shown on the map. Besides installing the new poles, crews will relocate the old pole’s electrical wires to the new poles and replace some of our aging equipment. The transition to the new equipment may result in up to two power outages of up to five hours long. There is no guarantee that any one pole being replaced is going to warrant an outage. If an outage is planned we'll leave a door hanger a minimum of forty-eight hours in advance. The door hanger will specify the date and duration of the outage.
Daily work hours are 8:30 – 3:30, Monday through Friday. Once the electrical equipment is relocated to the new poles it will be a few weeks before the other utilities on the poles are transferred. We will monitor the situation so that once the old poles are vacated they will be removed in a timely manner.
