Seattle City Light plans to add an alternate power supply (feeder) to the Chinatown International District neighborhood to increase the reliability of electrical service. Additionally when the Streetcar project needs to connect its power supply, this alternate feeder will avoid the need for planned outages to provide those connections. Workers will be splicing the cable for the alternate feeder nine times in order to reenergize the lines. They will need to shut down the power so that the work can be done safely.
May 25, 2012 Construction Update: At the suggestion of the community, Seattle City Light is planning a single outage to begin on June 5 at 11 p.m. and lasting for 20 hours. Affected customers are being sent a letter in the mail.
