In preparation for the Seattle Department of Transportation's intersection improvements at 5th Avenue NE and Northgate Way, Seattle City Light crews will move several utility poles, install two new poles, and transfer overhead wires and underground connections to the new and relocated poles.
Work will begin on Saturday, May 5th and could last though the the following week. This will involve two road closures, as well as lane restrictions, on 5th Avenue NE.
From 6:00 am - 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 5, 5th Avenue NE will be closed to all traffic north of Northgate Way for about 300 feet. On Sunday, May 6 from 6:00 am - 12:00 pm, 5th Avenue NE will be closed to traffic for about 300 feet south of Northgate Way. Curb lane restrictions will also be in effect. 8th Avenue NE is a good alternate route for drivers who would normally use 5th Avenue NE during this time.
Sidewalk access will be blocked on the east side of 5th Avenue NE on May 5th & 6th, 6:00 am - 12:00 pm, directly across from 24 Hour Fitness.
A power outage is scheduled for Saturday, May 6 from 6:00 am - 5:30 pm. Affected customers will be notified. Another outage will be necessary the week of May 19, and affected customers will be notified when that work is scheduled.
