Seattle City Light will be working with our contractor Novinium to extend the life of underground power lines in north Shoreline by injecting them with silicone to fill cracks in their protective insulation. Splices that did not allow cable injection in 2010 will be excavated. Cables will then be injected and new splices installed. Increasing the percentage of injected cable in this way will help to avoid some of the disruption of cable replacement. If we can’t inject the cable, we will have to replace it. Areas that are impacted by digging up the splices will be fully restored.
The neighborhoods involved lie north of Syre Elementary School and between 8th and 15th Ave. NW.
Planned outages will be required to complete this work. Residents will experience outages of about 8 hours each. The contractor will notify via door hanger on the Thursday before the next week's outages.
There will not be any outages scheduled Thanksgiving weekend November 24 - 27.
12/2/2011 Update: This phase of the project is now complete.
