This is a joint project by Seattle City Light and the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT). The scope of the SDOT work is the repaving of the streets within the project location described above. City Light’s portion of this project involves work only on Virginia Street between 1st and 8th Avenue. The purpose of City Light’s work is to build new conduit duct banks for the network power distribution system. Many of the existing ducts in this area are reaching the end of their useful lifespan. This project will construct new power cable pathways that will increase the reliability and serviceability of the system, as well as expanded capacity for future growth. No disruptions to power service are planned during this construction.
