The purpose of this project is to improve the reliability and performance of the street lighting system. Each phase of the project replaces approximately 25 percent of the street light bulbs in the Seattle City Light service area. At each light location, the contractor will replace the lamp and photoelectric control, clean each fixture, verify the fixture line voltage, install a bar code ID label on each fixture, and verify and adjust luminaire leveling, alignment, and socket settings as needed. In addition, the contractor will check and note the streetlight condition and tree obstructions. This project will be done in four phases over a period of four years.
Phase 1 work will take place in the south quarter of the Seattle City Light service area including portions of King Country, Burien, Tukwila and Normandy Park. The majority of this work will take place during daylight hours. Traffic impacts will be minimal and localized to the contractor’s (Potelco Inc.) individual service trucks.
Phase 1
Project Location: South Seattle, Normandy Park, Burien, and King County.
Project Status: Work on this phase is complete. The contract has been extended through the end of 2009, and may include additional street light work as funding allows.
Phase 2
Project Location: Mercer Street to Brandon, Puget Sound to Lake Washington
Project Status: Work started on June 15, 2009 in the Belltown neighborhood. Anticipated completion of work is November 2009.
