This project consists of constructing three blocks of underground power distribution vaults and conduits for the Broad Street Substation Network and associated pavement restoration. The purpose of this project is to increase the capacity of the system to meet growing customer power needs. The vault and ducts system will be constructed by contractor Gary Merlino Construction Co., with support by Seattle City Light crews. Seattle City Light crews will pull cables and energize the system at a later date.
Lane restrictions during this project will reduce traffic flows on Bell Street, 2nd Avenue, 3rd Avenue, 4th Avenue, and 5th Avenue during various phases on this project. Parking on Bell Street will be limited during construction. The vault and duct installation will be aligned along the South parking strip on Bell Street.
