How to get there:

DIABLO LAKE BOAT TOUR:
PROGRAM BEGINS AT NORTH CASCADES INSTITUTE'S ENVIRONMENTAL LEARNING CENTER
ON DIABLO DAM ROAD

From Interstate 5 take exit 232, the Cook Road Sedro-Woolley exit. Head east through the first stoplight close to the exit off ramp. Continue east on Cook Road for 4.5 miles until you reach a second stoplight and turn left onto the North Cascades Highway 20.

Continue east on the North Cascades Highway for approximately 40 miles. You will travel through the towns of Sedro-Woolley, Marblemount and Newhalem. Allow a minimum of 90 minutes to travel from Interstate 5 to Diablo Dam Road. You can also access the North Cascades Highway from east to west via Winthrop, Washington. Diablo Dam is approximately 70 miles west of Winthrop. Allow one hour and 30 minutes to travel west from Winthrop to Diablo Dam.

The North Cascades Institute's Environmental Learning Center is located at milepost 127.5 on the North Cascades Highway (Highway 20). ALL: Once on Diablo Dam Rd, please drive carefully, as this road is very narrow and winding down to and across the dam. The speed limit on the dam is 10 mph. Immediately past the dam, take a right and proceed approximately 0.6 miles to the end of the road.

The Learning Center parking lot will be clearly marked on your right. From here, it is an 800' walk to the Dining Hall along a gravel path. Should you need assistance to get from your car to the dining hall, please notify the Skagit Tour Information Center at least 2 weeks prior to your trip, so that we are prepared to assist you. NORTH CASCADES EXPEDITIONS:

From Interstate 5 take exit 232, the Cook Road Sedro-Woolley exit. Head east through the first stoplight close to the exit off ramp. Continue east on Cook Road for 4.5 miles until you reach a second stoplight and turn left onto the North Cascades Highway 20.

Continue east on the North Cascades Highway for approximately 40 miles. You will travel through the towns of Sedro-Woolley and Marblemount. Newhalem is 15 miles east of Marblemount. Look for the black and blue sign "Welcome to the Skagit River Hydroelectric Project" and for Train Engine "Old Number 6" parked adjacent to the Highway as you approach Newhalem's Main Street. Parking is available on the north side of the highway in the lot provided.
