Program details
The Green Up program has several participation levels with varying monthly costs that are in addition to your standard electricity usage charges. The percentage figures used for the Green Up program are based on the electricity usage of the average customer, not individual usage.

*City Light's residential customers are billed for two months of service at one time. Costs per month are in addition to your existing monthly usage charges.

Through the Green Up program, you can choose to purchase renewable power for 25%, 50% or 100% of your power. The cost is $3, $6 or $12 per month added to your bill.

 Seattle City Light is proud to support a variety of renewable energy projects through our Green Up program. This  product1 is made up of the new2 renewable energy resources shown below.

1 These figures reflect the power that we have contracted to provide. Actual figures may vary according to resource availability. We will annually report to you the actual resource mix of the electricity purchased during the preceding year.

2 New renewables come from generation facilities that first began commercial operation on or after January 1, 1999.

3 Eligible hydroelectricity facilities are defined by Green-e Energy National Standard and include facilities certified by the Low Impact Hydropower Institute; facilities that are run-of-the-river hydropower facilities with a total rated nameplate capacity equal to or less than 5MW; and facilities comprised of a turbine in a pipeline or a turbine in an irrigation canal.

This product is made up of the new renewable energy resources shown above. The Green Up program has three participation levels that are in addition to your standard electricity usage charges. You can choose to purchase renewable power in blocks of $3 (200 kWh), $6 (400 kWh) or $12 (800 kWh) per month. The average Seattle City Light customer uses 800 kWh of electricity each month. For commercial customers, this product may match up to 100% of your estimated electricity usage. From the time you receive this, you have three business days to change your mind about purchasing Green Up from Seattle City Light. How will I be billed? Your bimonthly Seattle City Light bill will include the total of two monthly charges for Green Up.
How will my bill be calculated? Charges are calculated on your purchases as follows:
200 KWH = $3.00/month
400 KWH = $6.00/month
800 KWH = $12.00/month
This purchase is in addition to charges by your electric utility. You will still receive an electricity bill from our utility.
Will my Green Power rates change over time? Green Up rates are subject to review and revision, but have not changed since the program's inception in 2005.
What resources will be used in my certified product? See Product Content Label above.
Is there a Green Up termination fee? No early termination fees are assessed your account.
How long have I agreed to participate in Green Up? There is no contract requirement. You may stop participating in the program at any time.
What other fees might I be charged? A $10 late fee is charged to utility accounts that are 15 days past due. No additional fees are assessed to Green Up customers.
