Solar Project - Croft PlaceProject Summary Developed by the Delridge Neighborhood Development Association, Croft Place is a community of 21 affordable homes that won the 2008 Built Green Hammer Award in the multi-family low-rise category. Using a co-housing model, residents help with community activities including shared landscaping and community building activities. Croft Place serves low-income and formerly homeless populations in West Seattle, while also serving the environment. The green friendly design includes a 1.3 kW solar electric array on the roof of a shared community building, installed with support from Seattle City Light's Green Power Program. In addition to the solar panels, native landscaping and innovative building materials make this project a ground-breaking example of affordable green housing. Not to mention, a comfortable and efficient home for families. |
