Hamed, an Associate Electrical Engineer, is responsible for keeping track of the loading of the network systems in downtown Seattle, the University District and First Hill. He is also responsible for determining where overloading is occurring in the system. He discovered a potential discrepancy in online transformer data and the meter readings for the Nordstrom’s flagship store. He asked a metering crew to check the meter and they discovered that the meter was reading only 50% of the actual Nordstrom load for that store. By identifying this error, Hamed increased City Light’s revenue by an incredible $369,300 this year. There will also be an ongoing revenue benefit since the metering will reflect actual usage.
