The Seattle City Clerk's Office supports the democratic process by preserving and providing access to the City's official and historical records, providing city-wide records management services, facilitating the legislative process, and providing support to the City Council.

The City Clerk's web site allows online searching for legislation, past and present. Users can search and browse Council Bills/Ordinances, Resolutions, Clerk Files, as well as City Council related materials such as Minutes, Agendas, and significant Vote Log. The Seattle Municipal Code (SMC) is available online as is the City Charter.

The Seattle Municipal Archives identifies and preserves historically valuable City records and arranges and describes those records to maximize their research usefulness and accessibility.
