City Attorney Public Opinions
Prior to 1992 the Seattle City Attorney issued public legal opinions on various topics that were of public interest. Peter Holmes believes that providing public legal opinions on certain issues will provide significant public benefit. Therefore, the Seattle City Attorney's Office has decided to reinstate this practice.
Public opinions will only be issued in a manner that does not conflict with the Rules of Professional Conduct, and the Seattle City Attorney's Office will work with other City elected officials and department heads in deciding when to issue public opinions.
We are currently working on creating a searchable index, and as time and resources permit, we will begin publishing the old opinions on Data.Seattle.Gov.
