About the Chief Information
Security Officer
Mike Hamilton, CISO
Michael Hamilton is the City's Chief Information Security Officer. He is responsible for governance and leadership in support of effective and consistently-applied technology security standards and methods across 20+ departments.
Mr. Hamilton has more than 20 years as an information security professional, as a practitioner, entrepreneur, consultant, and in management. Formerly a NASA ocean scientist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, his BS and MS degrees in Geochemistry and Oceanography are from the University of Southern California.

David Matthews, the Deputy CISO supports citywide Information Security. His reponsibilities include policy creation, maintenance and enforcement; project management; awareness programs; business continuity/disaster recovery and incident response.

The position of Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) was created to oversee the citywide efforts to properly
protect the City's information technology systems and the data associated with it. The timely and cost effective
delivery of citizen services and government operations depends on these citywide efforts being successful.
