Chief Technology Officer
Confirmed in 2013, Erin Devoto serves as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for the City of Seattle and director of the city's Department of Information Technology (DoIT), reporting directly to Mayor Ed Murray.
As CTO, Erin sets standards and policies that govern the use of information technology in City government. As the Director of DoIT, Erin oversees the following lines of business to make technology work for the city, including the city's data center, computing services, information security, web site, municipal television station, community technology, electronic mail system, cable franchises,800 MHz trunked public safety radio system, telephone network, data communications network and development of the City's Broadband Initiative.
Since she started with DoIT in 2007, Erin has developed and implemented several Citywide IT initiatives including implementation of a new email and new archive system for the City's 10,000 users and a new model for the public access television channel.
Most recently Erin created the ordinance to allow third party providers to lease excess conduit resulting in expanding fiber broadband service for the Pioneer Square community and managed a public-private partnership with the City, the University of Washington and GigabitSquared to bring high-speed fiber connections to 14 neighborhoods in the City.
Erin holds a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Washington.
