Title V Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP)

The Title V Senior Community Service Employment Program is a federal job training program for older job seekers. Participants gain work experience through short-term subsidized employment and then make the transition to non-subsidized jobs.

Eligible job seekers are placed in job training assignments with host agencies that are registered with the Mayor’s Office for Senior Citizens. Title V participants work 15 to 25 hours a week.

New Title V participants must be:

  • 55 years old or older
  • Residents of King County
  • Unemployed, with low incomes
  • Meet income eligibility requirements (total household income at or below 125% Federal Poverty Level)

Title V is funded by the federal Older Americans Act through the U.S. Department of Labor and the Washington Department of Social and Health Services. The 2009 - 2010 funding for this program in Seattle and King County is $263,002.
