Strategic Plan on Seattle's Criminal Justice Response to Domestic Violence

The 2005-2009 Strategic Plan on Seattle’s Criminal Justice Response to Domestic Violence, adopted by the Seattle City Council in September 2005, guides our efforts to enhance our criminal justice response to domestic violence.

The plan focuses on:

  • Advocacy and victim services
  • Batterer intervention
  • Firearms
  • Investigations
  • Prosecution
  • Sanctions
  • Special Populations
  • Victim defendants

The Seattle Human Services Department monitors implementation of the plan and provides semi-annual reports regarding progress to the Domestic Violence Prevention Council and Seattle City Council. Area agencies are responsible for the full implementation.

Successful implementation of the plan will contribute significantly to making Seattle safer, making services for domestic violence survivors and their children more accessible, holding batterers more accountable, and strengthening families.
