Child CareChild Care Family AdvocatesThe City of Seattle provides funding for Child Care Family Advocates located at two family centers serving southeast and southwest Seattle. The family advocates are available to assist and provide support to children and their families and staff in family child care, center-based, and school-based programs under contract with the City of Seattle’s Child Care Assistance Program. In addition, they assist providers served by the City’s Child Care Nutrition Program and in Step Ahead preschools. The goal of the Child Care Family Advocate program is to build strong, healthy, and self-sufficient families and communities. The child care family advocates provide culturally relevant and appropriate assistance and will help connect families to appropriate services. In 2009, approximately $110,366 was allocated to the nonprofit, community-based organizations for the Child Care Family Advocates Program. 2009 Funded Agencies and Programs Information For more information about Seattle Human Services Department-funded services for children and families, call Deborah Harris at 206-684-8852 or e-mail childrenandfamilies@seattle.gov.
